Chances are, if you are trying your hand at gardening, you may be tempted to grow corn.  After all, the old saying goes that corn should be picked as the water on the stove comes to a boil, for the optimum flavor.  Make certain those seeds are for sweet corn, and not one of the other various species of corn.  Dent or flint corn, for instance, has a very high starch content, and is primarily used as livestock feed, or as an ingredient in processed foods.  Flour corn, one of the oldest types of corn, is also very starchy, and is used in baked goods.
