I have an interesting anecdote about the need for scripts for your website. A client once complained to me that she was having a lot of trouble with sending emails from her website address. They were being blocked by a spam filter. “I don’t understand why this is happening”, she complained. “I never ever send an email except to reply to a customer.” I told her that it sounded like her website had been invaded by a malicious hacker, who was using her site to send out his spam messages. Sure enough, I discovered this to be the case, so I added a new script to her site to protect her against intrusions.
